It’s that time of the year once again. The time when we honor and pay homage to the beautiful women in our lives and families. Providing, love, support, guidance to us on our journeys, in our times of need, in general. The time of year dedicated to celebrating all the dedicated, hardworking, loving MOTHERS!!
Oddly enough, it’s also the time of year, where thoughtless spouses, ungrateful children, self-absorbed people, and preoccupied adults not in school – get snuck up on and find themselves scrambling to come up with some half-assed last minute sentimental gesture, to show the mothers in our lives, how much we care. LOL
Okay, maybe I’m projecting a bit because once again I was caught off guard by how fast Mother day seems to have crept up on me this year.
Still, it doesn’t lessen how grateful and appreciative I am for the Mothers in my own life. From My own mother, knowing the hardships and difficulty e went through giving birth to me and my siblings, raising us predominantly as a single mother. To my sisters, all making me an uncle before I was ready, and their journeys to be the best role models and figures for their kids and those around them. All the way to My own son’s mother – a beautiful woman who saw something good in me, enough to willingly want to create a life with me. Sheesh… Talk about crazy, huh? She loved and trusted me enough, to want to create – life together and share that responsibility of raising children in this crazy world. She blessed (hhmmm… or cursed- depending on the day) me in a way that I could never repay and am forever grateful for. All the mothers in my life have blessed me in such ways… whether giving me life, giving me love and guidance or… well, giving me life, yet again, in an all-new way… the cycle is complete.
Recognizing that there is no “Culture Of Dad” without the Culture of Moms out there, we’d be remiss not to show and share the love that the #CultOfDad has for women and all the wonderful mother out there. I’ve heard it said that ideally, mother are like the heart of the family, as Fathers are the backbone; and while I wouldn’t say that is a 100% accurate or consistent, a lot of truth resonates there. So here’s to the beautiful women in our lives, the mothers that show love, offer guidance and give of themselves. Heres to the heart in our lives. We need you, we thank you… you are appreciated!
Happy Mothers Day!
